Testing Livener's Remote Production at Umbria Jazz

A live streaming test from Umbria Jazz demonstrated how Livener performs over a busy 5G network while highlighting the importance of training volunteer camera operators to produce even better live events.

Two of the Livener team headed to Perugia for Umbria Jazz where they were joined by a friend for a short holiday. We took this opportunity to test and stream a part of one of the Funk Off! Street performances which can be seen on our YouTube channel.

For this the team on the ground had their mobile phones on handheld mounts with two using external microphones and connected to the Studio using the 5G telephone network. The operator was in the UK selecting the shots and managing the audio.

The test went well demonstrating the system working over 5G in a busy area. What didn't go so well were the shots our volunteers provided. We know our customers volunteers will need to learn some new production skills to make their streams even better and are planning a series of how to guides to help them make the most of their studios. Tests like this help to highlight some of the areas we need to cover.
