Streaming Across Borders: Connecting Rimini and Stratford-upon-Avon in Real Time

At MIR 2026 in Rimini, Livener conducted one of its first public beta tests, streaming live content from the exhibition floor while simultaneously connecting to a church service in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. The event demonstrated how cloud-based production can combine video feeds from multiple locations into a single live experience, while providing valuable insights into system stability, operator workflows, and audio management.
We kicked off our public beta-testing in April at MIR 2026 in the Italian resort of Rimini. MIR is Italy’s leading multi-media integration expo. The team streamed live footage from the show floor daily demonstrating our virtual production studio. This included a live link up with Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-on-Avon from their service on Sunday morning demonstrating that with a virtual streaming studio the cameras don’t have to be in the same place or even in the same country.
We used a lap-top as the operator device linked up to a display screen so that visitors to our stand could see the studio in operation. For each stream we used camera feeds from 3 or 4 mobile phones covering live presentations, exhibitor interviews and show floor walk-arounds.
We has a few stability issues on one day, not unexpected for our first real world test. This led to a few improvements and improved operator feedback in the resulting software update.
Our other key learning was with the audio management and help that can come from using external microphones connected to smartphones.
